House System — “Qaganat”

The House System (“Qaganat” System) is an educational and organizational framework based on the principles of the house model in education. It brings students together around shared values and common goals.

The main purpose of the Qaganat System is to extend students’ interactions beyond the boundaries of their individual classes by bringing learners of different ages together as one community. It aims to create a positive and supportive school environment based on mutual respect, collaboration, responsibility, and care.

Unity and Team Spirit

Bringing students of different ages together within the same Qaganat allows them to get to know one another, work towards common goals, and develop a strong sense of team spirit. Older students support younger students, developing a sense of care and responsibility, while younger students feel that they are valued and fully included members of the school community.

Leadership and Responsibility

The Qaganat System provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills through practical experience. Qaganat leaders and their teams learn to plan collaborative activities, organize events, take initiative, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions and outcomes.

Throughout the academic year, Qaganats earn points across a range of areas, including academic achievement, sports, creativity, intellectual competitions, social projects, and active participation in school life. This system allows every student to demonstrate their strengths and encourages teams to work together towards shared achievements.

Peer Support and Mentorship

One of the key principles of the Qaganat System is: “Older students lead by example.” Senior students help younger students adapt to the school environment, understand school rules and traditions, and learn from their experiences. In this way, a culture of peer support and mentorship is fostered throughout the school.

Each Qaganat has its own name, colour, symbol, and motto. These distinctive elements bring students together around shared values, develop a sense of pride in their Qaganat and school, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the wider school community.

Collaborative activities involving students of different ages strengthen mutual understanding and respect. Getting to know one another and working together as a team can help prevent social exclusion, misunderstandings, bullying, and aggressive behaviour, contributing to a psychologically safe and supportive school environment.
